Folk fusion with a rock sound
DzsinnKalaDzsi was founded in 2014, and from the very beginning their focus has been on the fusion of folk music from different cultures.
”We have much more in common as people than we have differences”, the band claims, and this is represented in their music, too. DzsinnKalaDzsi is not only a band but also a musical workshop, where musicians of different nationalities have joined for longer or shorter periods over the years and have left a musical imprint. ”Creating something in common with other musicians that doesn’t really resemble the style of any other band as it becomes something unique, is a vital part of life for us and we love doing it.”
They also like to get creative with instrumentation and the representation of different instruments. Their current sound has been revamped by the electric guitar and the bass, the acoustic guitar replacing the zither, so although the sound is more “rock”, the acoustic instruments still play an essential part. They’ve also been putting more emphasis on performing Hungarian folk songs in an unconventional form, giving them a new guise and perspective.
