Turkish jazz psychedelia
One of the greatest saxophonists/composer/vocalists of the Istanbul alternative scene with a unique Turkish voice. Futacı’s music is described as a mix of psychedelic rock, jazz and lyrical music, blended with elements from Anatolian folklore. This way, he channels Istanbul’s chaos into his art, turning it into an energetic ritual-like atmosphere infused with dark sounds and abstract textures.
Futacı is known both for his solo works and his contribution to the free-jazz band Konstrukt, which he co-founded in 2008.
At Babel Sound, he is starting a new quartet formation, which will rehearse during the week-long residency and premiere at the closing concert of the Festival.
