Mediterranean Fusion
From the sands of the Sahara to the shores of the Black Sea and the deep Mediterranean, OMßRA’s music flows through Eastern European, North African, Sephardic and Hispanic traditions, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in a unique universe where the modes are intertwined with contemporary harmonies and traditions merge with the modern, giving birth to a journey between Caucasian valleys, multicolored mosques and large meadows of Neptune grass.
OMßRA’s compositions encompass Sephardic, Armenian and Arabic melodies and lyrics with a flamenco touch; interweaves Turkish harmonies and Arabic scales with jazz; vibrate with an exuberant rhythmic range, where cultural fusion is the icing on the cake of delicate original compositions and the meticulous combination of Mediterranean Jazz-style arrangements.
Nowadays they present a new live show called Festejos de Entre Tierras, which means less jazzy and more folk-prog, encouraging people to dance a lot through the fusion between traditional arranged songs and own compositions.
OMßRA was born at the beginning of 2014, inspired by the connection of musicians from diverse origins and their curiosity to know and spread music from different places in the world. At the end of 2015, they were an instrumental band and after several performances on national stages, they added a touring vocal part to the roster and released their first album Posidonian Poetry in 2019.
